Abrar Rahman Abir
I am Abrar Rahman Abir, a senior undergraduate at the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), majoring in Computer Science and Engineering. From the very beginning of my undergraduate journey, I have been deeply passionate about Computational Biology and Machine Learning. My profound fascination for Mathematics drives me to explore the vast realm of Machine Learning, and I am particularly excited by the challenge of designing novel machine learning methods to address complex biological problems.
Since my third year, I have had the privilege of being closely supervised by Dr. Wei Zhang at the University of Central Florida and Dr. Liqing Zhang at Virginia Tech. Currently, my undergraduate thesis is focused on Connectomics, conducted in collaboration with the Shavit Lab at MIT. My thesis supervisor at BUET is Dr. Md Shamsuzzoha Bayzid, to whom I remain profoundly grateful for his mentorship and guidance.
My research spans multiple domains, with a strong publication record :
- Machine Learning for Structural Biology
- Generative Models for Biomolecules
- Computational Connectomics
- Computer Vision
- Single-cell and Spatial transcriptomics
- Neural Combinatorial Optimization
These experiences have shaped my vision of pursuing impactful research at the intersection of biology, computation, and AI, with the goal of contributing methods that advance both science and medicine.
